Old works of Art?

Some of my old works of art from the 70's & 80's have come to light whilst clearing out my Mothers house. Croydon Airport where I worked for a year for a computer company, my dog "Ricky" and a painting of the Lake District - Can you tell which one is which?

It's a robot

After seeing the post over at What Revit Wants with the title Is it a Bird? is it a Plane, I found this

So the answer appears to be it's a robot ;0)   But is it paranoid and a manic depressive?

Johnny Depp in DARK SHADOWS

OK sado that I am I went to look for Revit training videos on YouTube and found this instead:-

A Tim Burton film with Jonny Depp (who else?) who plays a two century old vampire, with a very British accent , A Beautiful Witch that cursed him and placed him in a coffin which is dug up in 1972   TREX     Barry White

Lines from Depp to the HOT Witch like  “You may strategically place you’re your wondrous lips upon my posterior and kiss it repeatedly”

I MUST SEE THIS FILM

McFly - KEEP CALM AND PLAY LOUDER

.
Last night my two daughters and I went to see McFly at the Hammersmith Apollo, Those guys get better with each year and they have been around nine so far. Emma has been a fan since day one, I dropped them off at Fairfield Halls 8 years ago and picked them up, then I had to go with them to Wembley the following year. "Dad you have to know the words of the songs if your coming with us" and so a now 54 year old McFly fan was born, and we have seen them each year since.

Support Bands were IVYRISE and DIVE BELLA DIVE

I did keep calm and they did play lounder, thank god for ear plugs, no joke after seeing them last year at a small venue I thought they had gone out of tune at the end of the concert and my ears rang for a good 24 hours after, this year I took steps to not inflict any more hearing loss.

Three New Songs

.

The track above is very Mike and The Mechanics like

My daughters have been so good and supportive since my wife was taken into hospital and since we have had her home and on oxygen, I would love to arrange for them to actually meet McFly as a reward.

Who knows it is said they there are only six degrees of separation between us and everyone on the planet - if I post it up here it may happen!

Victor Meldrew Moment - Fixing England 's Economy

.
Saw this, loved it had to share it:-

Dear Mr. Cameron,

Please find below our suggestion for fixing England 's economy.

Instead of giving billions of pounds to banks that will squander the money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following plan..

You can call it the Patriotic Retirement Plan:

There are about 10 million people over 50 in the work force.
Pay them £1 million each severance for early retirement with the following stipulations:

1) They MUST retire. ~ Ten million job openings - Unemployment fixed

2) They MUST buy a new British car. ~ Ten million cars ordered - Car Industry fixed

3) They MUST either buy a house or pay off their mortgage. ~ Housing Crisis fixed

4) They MUST send their kids to school/college/university. ~ Crime rate fixed

5) They MUST buy £100 WORTH of alcohol/tobacco a week ~ and there's your money back in duty/tax etc.

6) Instead of stuffing around with the carbon emissions trading scheme that makes us pay for the major polluters, tell the greedy bastards to reduce their pollution emissions by 75% within 5 years or we shut them down.

It can't get any easier than that!

P.S. If more money is needed, have all members of parliament pay back their falsely claimed expenses and second home allowances

Time Travel Again - Back to the 80's

.
I've just lost 31 years and I'm 22 again.......

A quick trip down to the local supermarket to pick up a new windscreen wiper and as always I look at the Budget CD's and there it was.

A mixture of Solo in Soho and Philip Lynott Album plus some rare tracks ....20 Tracks for £3

As it says on the back cover of this cracking collection Phil Lynott was the leader of Thin Lizzy he was a musical hero, master songwriter and majestic singer, yet as this collection of solo hits, album tracks and rare b-sides proves he was much more.

And yes I am enjoying the magic it's like having my original record collection back

Typical Engineering Question or Bridge Bashing!

.
A JCB weighing 22 tons is on top of a lowboy trailer and heading east on Interstate 70 near Hays, Kansas ..

The extended shovel arm is made of hardened refined steel and the approaching overpass is made of commercial-grade concrete, re-inforced with 1 1/2 inch steel rebar spaced at 6 inch intervals in a criss-cross pattern layered at 1 foot vertical spacing.

Question:

When the shovel arm hits the overpass, how fast do you have to be going to slice the bridge in half ?

(Assume no effect for headwind and no braking by the driver...)

Extra Credit:

What is the time and distance required for the entire rig to come to a complete stop after hitting the overpass at the speed calculated above.

Yes, you can neglect friction.

No, I couldn't solve it either......but who cares;

The pictures are great!

Apparently the driver was on his cell phone..................

Dr Who: The Adipose Care Guide

.
OK "I don't believe it" ... that there are those of you out there, that don't watch Dr Who!

It appears to me that most Revitheads also like Star Wars, Star Trek, Dr Who and Scfi generally  it must be all that 3D stuff models and animation!

That's also why I'm enjoying experimenting with the 3DConnexion mouse - No I'm not using it on Google Earth and pretending to be Superman flying!

If you find an Adipose walking lost down a street, here is how to look after him or her.

My ones name is "Jor" because he looks like half of Jordan (you know Katie Price the EX Mrs Peter Andre )....

I could have called him "Dan" but I would have felt like a RIGHT TIT

"Matron can I go and sit in the comfy chair now please?....... No No not the comfy chair!

UK Being Human Series 3 - BBC3 Sunday at 9pm!

.
OFF SUBJECT..... I just love this series; I was hooked from the pilot!

If you have not seen it the series is about a vampire, werewolf’s, and a ghost sharing a house and as the title suggests they are trying at “Being Human” it’s a mixture of drama, humour, tragedy and horror in every episode.

Why Canada have to remake it for the USA audience god only knows, The UK cast are ab-fab darling!

Scott Grant is running the Edinburgh Marathon for Parkinson's UK

.
Scott Grant of Excitech, LRUG, GRUG, ERUG, and anywhere else where there is a pub or beer is getting fit-ish and fundraising. He says...
"After too many years of living the life of a couch potato, I have gotten myself fit (well fit-er) and decided to participate in the 2011 Edinburgh Marathon as part of the Parkinson’s UK team.
Aside from a long held desire to compete in a marathon, I wanted to do something worthwhile for a cause that was close to my heart.
The only choice I could make here was to support Parkinson’s UK, as this was the debilitating illness that robbed my Grandfather of any quality of life in the last 5 years he had with us before he passed away.  He was an inspiration to me and to this day, still one of the best natured people I have ever met.  His warmth was palpable, his wisdom extensive and I owe him an eternal debt for teaching me good manners and what it really means to be a gentleman.  He contributed so much to making me what I became, and it still pains me that he never really got to comprehend my success because of this condition; as I know it would have made him so proud."
Pop over to his Just Giving fund raising page, and see video of him him training. It's a great cause, my father ended up in a nursing home with Parkinsons because he needed 24/7 care that could not be provided at home, so I can understand why the cause is close to Scotts heart.
Scott, Last time I saw legs like that was Rod Hulls Emu!
