Here is another gem I've found on my Revit YouTube round ups "Revit Advanced Family Creation - Parametric Crane - Part 1" By MrSpot no less. Appears to be Part One to a series that is yet to be published. I will link to all parts on this posting as they arrive on youtube. Alternatively check out MrSpots YouTube Channel

Revit Advanced Family Creation - Parametric Crane - Part 2 9th October 2010
Revit Advanced Family Creation - Parametric Crane - Part 3 9th October 2010
Revit Advanced Family Creation - Parametric Crane - Part 4 9th October 2010 Final Part
As part of his blog series on advanced family creation this video introduces the parametric crane family that will be demonstrated over the next few weeks or so.
This video shows a rough outline of how it has been pieced together through the use of nesting families, linking parameters, using reporting parameters, face based families, constraints, formulas and a number of other advanced concepts.
More to come..........

Revit Family Basics ~ Video Tutorials
.
Taking my usual surf of all things Revit on You Tube I found the two video's below created by William Spier – MEP Technical Specialist Autodesk Inc which appear to be the start of a series. As others are released I will list them here. Here is a link to the RevitFamily Jewels YouTube Channel

The videos pointed me in the direction of the Family Jewels Blog where William Spier, Ian McGaw, Martin J. Schmid, Jason A. Spleha and Scott Brisk are the Authors and the site appears to have been around since April 2010.
1 - Revit Family Basics
Basics of Revit Family template files, Revit Family editor environment, loading families into a project, saving, etc.
2 - Simplifying Overdetailed Families
Here's a case of an over detailed piece of Revit content that we can pretty quickly pare down and rebuild in Revit using model lines to depict the details that were originally modeled instead of just drawn using model or symbolic lines. This is a video you will want to point your manufacturers and vendors to so they can start to understand Revit designers HATE geometrically over-detailed content. We like simple looking content that is Informationally robust. Make the link to the content pretty & fancy, and make the content simple but accurate, and you (manufacturer) will be designed in!!

First Mo-Kan RUG (Revit User Group) meeting!!
Here is a posting from Linked-in about a new RUG...always glad to see a new group forming!
"There have been numerous requests to start a Revit user group that covers all three Revit products - Architecture, Structure and MEP. A group of three of us have gotten together to do just that – to start a group that is driven by the user’s needs, wants, and insure members input and some control over group’s topics and discussions. This will be the first of what will be monthly Revit User Group (RUG) meetings for any and all Revit users of the greater Kansas City area. Food and drinks will be provided, and hopefully some give aways. So come prepared to meet other users and us (Angela, Heathe and William) and our sponsors (no sales pitches), and we'll set the stage for what we plan to be fun, but informative and edifying get togethers.
Meet at: ITT Tech, 9150 East 41 Terrace, Kansas City, MO 64133 (816) 276-1400
Date & Time: July 29th @ 5:30pm – 7:00pm
Note that Google Maps pinpoints this address in the WRONG location on the map. ITT is across the street (Blue Ridge Cutoff) from the Royals stadium.
Website (to be developed) is: http://mo-kanrug.blogspot.com/"

AEC (UK) BIM Standard for Autodesk Revit (The Holy Grail of BIM?)
The search for the Holy Grail of BIM Standards may be over, or has the journey only just begun?
A workable implementation of the AEC (UK) BIM Standard for the Architectural, Engineering and Construction industry in the UK. (So it says on the cover).
The committee that put this document together had representatives from architecture, engineering and construction companies in the UK, large small, hence the adoption of the AEC (UK) moniker.
If nothing else it’s a fantastic starter for 10, and needs to be examined and considered before setting up your own standards (Why re-create the wheel when someone else has already done it?)
There is to be a presentation by Paul Woddy at the next LRUG meeting on the 19th July, and a group discussion between members afterwards.
BIMALOT!
OK in answer to It's only a model!
James Posted that he could not download the document from Googledocs ~ I've checked it out and the preview is gone! but you can still download to open or save see below

If you are based in the UK and using Revit then please take part in the Poll on the top left of the screen. I’m trying to get snapshot of exactly where the UK are in their Work sharing and Collaboration with Revit.

Revit 2011 – Metric Library Reference Guide
.
Revit Structural Suite 2011 Out of the Box (or from the download these days) Metric Library Reference Guide as installed in the UK. I originally created this document back in 2007 for version 2008 and catalogued all the typos and spelling errors in the Metric Library and sent it to Autodesk so that they could make the corrections for version 2009
I’ve also used it in the past to catalogue and ask questions about UK Specific Content when released.
Autodesk have traditionally been very poor at documenting what exactly should be in the (metric) library. I’m hoping they are going to improve in the future (OK I’m an eternal optimist! ;0)
Recently in the service packs you get a ~Newfilelist~.ini that gives you some information about what has been added and a backup of what has been removed. However I firmly believe that each folder should have a readme, txt file that gives:-
Name of the folder
# Files Deleted ~ (with a full listing with some explanation of why they have been removed)
# New files added ~ (complete listing)
# Files Modified ~ ( with a full listing with some explination as to what has been modified and why?)
# Files updated ~ (Those that are exactly as in the previous release but have just been upgraded to the current format)
Where Manufactures specific content is supplied it would be useful to have the manufacturers name and or product or trade name as part of the family file name
Hyperlinks to Manufacturers web sites would also be extremely useful. This information should be embedded with the family.
This would allow a BIM Manager to effectively manage the Library from version to version including the service packs.
